Zambales

Zambales, one of the best tourist destinations in the Philippines, is a province located in the western coast of Central Luzon and is accessible from Metro Manila in 2 to 3 hours by land. The province is a sure-fire traveler’s delight and boasts of numerous places to go from hotels, restaurants, beaches, islands, eco and marine parks.

Pundaquit

A small town which is used to be popular only to backpackers, Pundaquit is home to one of the most beautiful coves in the country, Anawangin Cove. Tourists should not miss this small paradise. It is one place in Luzon that can compete with those that can be found in Palawan. Other destinations are Snake Island and Capones Island.

Subic

Subic Bay Freeport Zone, or simply Subic Bay, is located in Olongapo City, southwest of Luzon. It is a former military base that was successfully converted into a tax and duty free zone. Being a former US military base, it has maintained its beauty. Today, even Filipino families drive up to Subic Bay to enjoy its many nature attractions and of course, to do a bit of duty-free shopping. Subic, which used to house the Americans’ largest naval base outside of the U.S. Mainland, is now a free port that does ship building and repair and port activities. To tourists, Subic is a haven for relaxation. It boasts of good hotels, restaurant and water sports facilities.

Places To Go @ Subic

Grande Island Resort

Author’s comments: (April 2008). The resort is average and not in tip-top shape. The surrounding beaches are quite rocky. The only restaurant offers only chinese cuisine which are, by the way, too expensive. The food is not something to be remembered and if you really are picky, you should not book yourself in this resort. My personal rating for this resort would be 6 of 10.
